Even though it is a 1 layer cake it is substantial.<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode-ingredients\"><h3>Ingredients<\/h3><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CAKE:<\/li>\n<li>2 c flour<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 tsp baking powder<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 tsp salt<\/li>\n<li>2 large eggs, room temperature<\/li>\n<li>1 c sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 c buttermilk (regular milk + 1\/2 tsp white vinegar)<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp vanilla extract<\/li>\n<li>zest of 1 orange (1 tbsp +)<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 c butter, melted and cooled to room temperature<\/li>\n<li>2 tbsp orange marmalade for filling<\/li>\n<li>FROSTING:<\/li>\n<li>4 oz cream cheese<\/li>\n<li>4 tbsp butter, soft<\/li>\n<li>2 tbsp orange marmalade<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp fresh orange juice<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp vanilla extract<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp orange extract<\/li>\n<li>2 c icing sugar<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"shortcode-directions instructions\"><h3>Directions<\/h3><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Heat oven to 350F<\/li>\n<li>Prepare a 9&#8243; cake pan with parchment paper on the bottom, grease bottom (parchment) and sides with butter.<\/li>\n<li>Sift dry ingredients together in a separate bowl.<\/li>\n<li>In a large bowl, hand whisk the sugar and eggs together until well combined.<\/li>\n<li>Add the zest, vanilla, and buttermilk and whisk until well combined.<\/li>\n<li>Whisk in the melted butter until well combined.<\/li>\n<li>Add the flour mixture and whisk until just combined&#8230;don&#8217;t overmix.<\/li>\n<li>Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.<\/li>\n<li>Bake for 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted into middle of cake comes out clean.<\/li>\n<li>Cool cake in pan for 30 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Invert cake onto a wire rack to finish cooling.<\/li>\n<li>For the Frosting, combine the 1st 6 ingredients with a mixer.<\/li>\n<li>Add the icing sugar and mix until well combined.<\/li>\n<li>Carefully slice cake in 1\/2 so that you have 2 layers.<\/li>\n<li>Cover 1st layer with 2 tbsp of marmalade.<\/li>\n<li>Smooth some frosting on top of marmalade layer..about 1\/4 inch.<\/li>\n<li>Add 2nd layer of cake.<\/li>\n<li>Finish frosting entire cake.<\/li>\n<li>Keep refrigerated until ready to serve.<\/li>\n<li>Enjoy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n\n<p>Thanks to daringgourmet.com<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Love this cake and easy to make!
