I usually start it in the evening so it can cook overnight.<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode-ingredients\"><h3>Ingredients<\/h3><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3 c navy beans<\/li>\n<li>8 c water<\/li>\n<li>3 tsp salt<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 c finely chopped onion<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 c salt pork, chopped fine (most large grocery stores carry salt pork)<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 molasses<\/li>\n<li>1 c ketchup<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 c brown sugar<\/li>\n<li>2 tsp dry mustard<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"shortcode-directions instructions\"><h3>Directions<\/h3><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mix beans, water, salt, onion and salt pork in a slow cooker.<\/li>\n<li>Cook for 10 hrs on low heat.<\/li>\n<li>Drain the beans reserving 2 c of the liquid.<\/li>\n<li>Put the beans back in the slow cooker and add the remaining ingredients plus the 2 c of reserved liquid.<\/li>\n<li>Cook 4 more hours on low heat.<\/li>\n<li>Enjoy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n\n<p>Thanks to Jean Hamilton for the recipe!!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Takes a long time to cook but worth it!
