{"id":1351,"date":"2021-12-15T10:19:17","date_gmt":"2021-12-15T17:19:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/olivereats.ca\/?p=1351"},"modified":"2026-02-27T09:47:35","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T16:47:35","slug":"warm-gingerbread-cake-with-caramel-sauce","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olivereats.ca\/index.php\/2021\/12\/15\/warm-gingerbread-cake-with-caramel-sauce\/","title":{"rendered":"Sticky Toffee Pudding with Toffee Sauce"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Super easy to make and super delicious!!<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode-ingredients\"><h3>Ingredients<\/h3><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>PUDDING:<\/li>\n<li>2 c pitted dates<\/li>\n<li>2 2\/3 c water<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 tsp baking soda<\/li>\n<li>&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;..<\/li>\n<li>3\/4 stick of butter (6 tbsp), soft<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 c packed dark brown sugar (demera)<\/li>\n<li>3 large eggs<\/li>\n<li>\u00a01 1\/2 tsp vanilla<\/li>\n<li>1 3\/4 c flour + 2 tsp baking powder + 1\/2 tsp salt<\/li>\n<li>TOFFEE SAUCE:<\/li>\n<li>2 c heavy cream<\/li>\n<li>2 sticks of butter (1 c)<\/li>\n<li>1 c packed dark brown sugar<\/li>\n<li>2 tbsp Golden Syrup<\/li>\n<li>Ice Cream for serving. (optional)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"shortcode-directions instructions\"><h3>Directions<\/h3><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>PUDDING:<\/li>\n<li>Cut the dates into small pieces.\u00a0 Place in a medium size saucepan with the water.<\/li>\n<li>Bring the date mixture to a boil.\u00a0 Remove from heat and set aside to cool.\u00a0 Date mixture MUST be cool so make this at least an hour ahead of time.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare 8&#215;8 or 9&#215;9 cake pan with butter and flour to coat.<\/li>\n<li>When date mixture is cool, heat the oven to 375 degrees (convection).<\/li>\n<li>Beat butter and brown sugar together until fluffy&#8230;1-2 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Add eggs one at a time and beat well after each addition.<\/li>\n<li>Add in the vanilla and blend.<\/li>\n<li>Add in the flour mixture.\u00a0 Batter will be very stiff at this point.<\/li>\n<li>Puree the date mixture with immersion blender.\u00a0 Stir in 1 1\/2 tsp baking soda.<\/li>\n<li>Add the date mixture to the batter and stir until just combined.<\/li>\n<li>Pour batter into prepared pan.<\/li>\n<li>Bake for 25-35 minutes or until toothpick in center comes out clean.<\/li>\n<li>SAUCE:<\/li>\n<li>Combine ingredients for sauce in a heavy medium saucepan.\u00a0 Stir the mixture constantly so it doesn&#8217;t burn. Bring to a boil and continue boiling until sauce is reduced and lightly coats a wooden spoon&#8230;usually 5 minutes.\u00a0 Remove from heat.<\/li>\n<li>Warm the cake for about 20 minutes before serving with sauce and ice cream.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n\n<p>Thanks to <a href=\"https:\/\/mywebsitehere.com\">my friend Jean Hamilton for the recipe.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Super easy to make and super delicious!!
