{"id":1412,"date":"2022-02-05T09:18:22","date_gmt":"2022-02-05T16:18:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/olivereats.ca\/?p=1412"},"modified":"2022-02-05T09:20:21","modified_gmt":"2022-02-05T16:20:21","slug":"real-deal-szechuan-beef-stir-fry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olivereats.ca\/index.php\/2022\/02\/05\/real-deal-szechuan-beef-stir-fry\/","title":{"rendered":"Real Deal Szechuan Beef Stir Fry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tender crispy beef&#8230;.same as Chinese restaurant!<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode-ingredients\"><h3>Ingredients<\/h3><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>BEEF<\/li>\n<li>1 flank steak or skirt steak cut against the grain in 1\/4&#8243; slices<\/li>\n<li>1 egg, beaten<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp veggie oil<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp salt<\/li>\n<li>SAUCE<\/li>\n<li>3 tbsp Chinkiang vinegar (or similar)<\/li>\n<li>2 tbsp Shaoxing wine (or similar)<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp dark soy sauce<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp light soy sauce<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp chili oil or Sriracha or Sambal Oleek<\/li>\n<li>3 tbsp sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp cornstarch<\/li>\n<li>STIR FRY<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 c cornstarch<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 c avocado oil<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 c chopped white onion<\/li>\n<li>2 c chopped bell pepper, various colors is best<\/li>\n<li>4 chinese dried chili peppers (optional)<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp ginger, minced<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp garlic, minced<\/li>\n<li>Roasted sesame seeds or chopped green onion for garnish<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"shortcode-directions instructions\"><h3>Directions<\/h3><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Marinate the beef with the egg, oil, and salt for 15 &#8211; 20 minutes while preparing the veggies<\/li>\n<li>Combine all the sauce ingredients in a small bowl and mix well<\/li>\n<li>Prepare the veggies<\/li>\n<li>Heat a deep frying pan on medium high heat.<\/li>\n<li>When hot, add enough oil to cover bottom of frying pan<\/li>\n<li>Drain the beef and add to frying pan for one layer, separating pieces from each other.\u00a0 Cook for 2-3 minutes before turning over.\u00a0 Ensure the beef gets lots of brown color and crisps before removed from pan.\u00a0 Cook in batches if necessary and remove beef to small bowl.<\/li>\n<li>Once beef is removed from frying pan, add a bit more oil if necessary and add the veggies.\u00a0 Stir fry for 1-2 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Add the ginger and garlic and stir a few times to release fragrance.<\/li>\n<li>Stir the sauce well to incorporate the cornstarch then add to the frying pan.\u00a0 Stir and cook until it thickens&#8230;2-3 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Add in the beef and stir to coat.<\/li>\n<li>Serve with garnishes and rice.<\/li>\n<li>Enjoy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n\n<p>Thanks to Maggie Zhu!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tender crispy beef&#8230;.same as Chinese restaurant!
