{"id":1496,"date":"2022-09-05T08:01:40","date_gmt":"2022-09-05T14:01:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/olivereats.ca\/?p=1496"},"modified":"2022-09-05T08:02:26","modified_gmt":"2022-09-05T14:02:26","slug":"buttermilk-biscuits-freeze-ahead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olivereats.ca\/index.php\/2022\/09\/05\/buttermilk-biscuits-freeze-ahead\/","title":{"rendered":"Buttermilk Biscuits (Freeze Ahead)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Light and fluffy!&nbsp; Can be made ahead and frozen&#8230;but who wants to wait??<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode-ingredients\"><h3>Ingredients<\/h3><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3 c all-purpose flour1<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp (not a typo) baking powder<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp baking soda<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp salt<\/li>\n<li>3\/4 c cold buttter<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 c buttermilk (can be made by adding 1 tsp vinegar to milk)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"shortcode-directions instructions\"><h3>Directions<\/h3><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If baking right away, heat oven to 400F<\/li>\n<li>Place dry ingredients in a large bowl and stir to mix.<\/li>\n<li>Butter &#8211; either grate the butter and add to the dry ingredients or use a pastry blender to&nbsp; incorporate the butter.&nbsp; Butter should be small uniform pieces.<\/li>\n<li>Add the buttermilk and stir until the dough forms a sticky ball.<\/li>\n<li>Turn the dough out onto a flour-dusted work surface and pat into a rough 8&#8243; square.<\/li>\n<li>Knead the dough about 10 times by folding in half, pat back down, rotate it 90 degrees after each fold.<\/li>\n<li>Pat the dough into a 6&#8243;x8&#8243; rectangle.<\/li>\n<li>Make 12 squares by cutting straight down&#8230;don&#8217;t saw back and forth.<\/li>\n<li>If freezing the biscuits, transfer them to parchment paper and freeze at least 4 hours.&nbsp; Then re-package into zip lock bags.<\/li>\n<li>If baking,&nbsp; place biscuits on a baking sheet and place on middle rack in pre-heated oven.<\/li>\n<li>Bake for 10 minutes and then check progress.&nbsp; Depending on your oven, you will need to add another 2-5 minutes baking time.&nbsp; Biscuits should be double their height and slightly golden brown.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n\n<p>Thanks to <a href=\"https:\/\/mywebsitehere.com\">https:\/\/kitchn.com and my friend Ashley<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Light and fluffy!&nbsp; Can be made ahead and frozen&#8230;but who wants to wait??
