{"id":1831,"date":"2025-12-14T08:25:09","date_gmt":"2025-12-14T15:25:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/olivereats.ca\/?p=1831"},"modified":"2025-12-26T09:43:00","modified_gmt":"2025-12-26T16:43:00","slug":"mincemeat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olivereats.ca\/index.php\/2025\/12\/14\/mincemeat\/","title":{"rendered":"Mincemeat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is a great way to use excess apples.<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode-ingredients\"><h3>Ingredients<\/h3><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>8 c peeled, finely chopped apples (tart is best)<\/li>\n<li>1 c sultana raisins<\/li>\n<li>1 c dark raisins<\/li>\n<li>1 c currants<\/li>\n<li>2\/3 c lightly packed brown sugar<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 c dried cranberries<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 c water<\/li>\n<li>grated rind and juice of 2 lemons<\/li>\n<li>2 tsp ground cinnamon<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp ground cloves<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 c brandy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"shortcode-directions instructions\"><h3>Directions<\/h3><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Get 500 ml jars ready&#8230;washed and into canner.\u00a0 Boil for 20 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Put all ingredients except for brandy into large saucepan.\u00a0 Bring to a boil over high heat.\u00a0 Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Stir in brandy.<\/li>\n<li>Remove hot jars from canner.\u00a0 Fill jars to within 1\/2&#8243; of rim.<\/li>\n<li>Place lids and process in canner for 30 minutes at rolling boil.<\/li>\n<li>Remove jars from canner without tipping and set on counter.\u00a0 Do not move them for 24 hrs.<\/li>\n<li>Check that lids have sealed.\u00a0 Unsealed jars can be refrigerated and used with 3 months.<\/li>\n<li>Enjoy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n\n<p>Thanks to <a href=\"https:\/\/mywebsitehere.com\">Small Batch Processing and my friend Jean Hamilton<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is a great way to use excess apples.
