{"id":749,"date":"2018-12-02T07:47:27","date_gmt":"2018-12-02T14:47:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/olivereats.ca\/?p=749"},"modified":"2018-12-02T07:47:28","modified_gmt":"2018-12-02T14:47:28","slug":"rhubarb-crisp-with-bourbon-sauce","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olivereats.ca\/index.php\/2018\/12\/02\/rhubarb-crisp-with-bourbon-sauce\/","title":{"rendered":"Rhubarb Crisp with Bourbon Sauce"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rhubarb just became my new favorite dessert&#8230;its all about the sauce!\u00a0 Serves 8.<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode-ingredients\"><h3>Ingredients<\/h3><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For the CRISP<\/li>\n<li>3\/4 c brown sugar, packed<\/li>\n<li>3\/4 c flour<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 c soft butter<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp cinnamon<\/li>\n<li>6 c fresh or frozen rhubarb, diced<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 c white sugar<\/li>\n<li>grated rind of 1 lemon<\/li>\n<li>For the SAUCE<\/li>\n<li>3 egg yolks<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 c white sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 c whipping cream<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 c milk<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 c of bourbon or brandy or rum<\/li>\n<li>pinch of salt<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"shortcode-directions instructions\"><h3>Directions<\/h3><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Heat oven to 350F<\/li>\n<li>To make the crisp, combine the 1st FOUR ingregients (sugar, flour, butter and cinnamon) in a bowl until crumbly.<\/li>\n<li>In a large casserole dish, combine the rhubarb, sugar, and lemon rind.<\/li>\n<li>Sprinkle the crisp mixture on the rhubarb.\u00a0 Bake for 1 hour.<\/li>\n<li>To make the sauce, in the top of a double boiler, beat the yolks and sugar until light and lemon colored.<\/li>\n<li>Whisk in the cream and milk.<\/li>\n<li>Cook over hot water (not boiling) until mixture coats a spoon.<\/li>\n<li>Stir in bourbon and salt.<\/li>\n<li>Cook 5 minutes more.<\/li>\n<li>Serve warm.\u00a0 Makes 2 c of sauce.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n\n<p>Thanks to Best of Bridge cook books.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rhubarb just became my new favorite dessert&#8230;its all about the sauce!\u00a0 Serves 8.
