Golden Rum Cake

Super easy, very moist, very yummy!


  • 1 c chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 1 pkg (18.25 oz) yellow cake mix
  • 1 pkg (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 c water
  • 1/2 c dark rum
  • 1/2 c butter
  • 1/4 c water
  • 1 c white sugar
  • 1/2 c dark rum


  • Heat oven to 325F.  Grease and flour a 10″ bundt pan.
  • Sprinkle chopped nuts evenly over bottom of pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix and instant pudding.
  • Mix in the eggs, 1/2 c water, oil, and 1/2 c rum.  Blend well.
  • Pour batter into bundt pan.
  • Bake for 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into cake comes out clean.
  • Remove pan from oven and let sit for 10 minutes.
  • Turn cake out of pan onto serving plate.
  • Make the glaze by putting butter, 1/4 c water, and 1 c sugar into a saucepan.  Bring to a boil over medium heat and boil for about 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
  • Remove sauce from heat and stir in 1/2 c rum.
  • Brush glaze over top and sides of cake allowing cake to absorb the glaze.  Repeat until all of glazed is used.
  • Serve with whipped cream or ice cream
